Design Facilitation
Donor Recognition Systems
The National Veteran’s Research Center (NVRC) Donor Recognition Wall & Exhibit is a comprehensive sign, graphics, donor recognition and exhibit program IDS completed for Syracuse University. Working with the architectural facilities team from Syracuse University and experiential designers Entro, IDS produced this complex solution that called for meticulous attention to detail as well as complex site coordination to ensure the design intent was reached.
Challenge
In answer to a request for bid from Syracuse University and designers Entro, IDS manufactured a comprehensive environmental sign, donor recognition and exhibit package for this project. Although requiring multiple bids and heavily affected by COVID-19 delays, IDS was awarded each element of the fabrication and installation of the environmental graphics. The work included signage, a complete building-wide donor recognition system and a sophisticated user exhibit displaying the history of Syracuse alumni in military service across the years.
Strategy
IDS focused its fabrication efforts on closely matching the designer’s intent, particularly with matching the unique story of this environment. A close and constant communication system was developed with the design and university teams to ensure their design and quality standards were being met at each stage in the development process.
Approach
The most important start to the facilitation process was the design development and value engineering to ensure that both the universities and designers’ goals were met. IDS extensively prototyped key design elements and took detailed site surveys to ensure all site conditions were accounted for.
The Process
Using our experience in Design Facilitation, IDS followed the approach below to deliver an impressive solution to develop the NVRC Donor Recognition Wall & Exhibit.
