Exterior Banner System
Challenge
With experience designing and installing complex exterior banner systems, IDS was selected by the University of Rochester Eastman School of Music to design, print, and install an oversized banner to celebrate Garth Fagan’s 50-year anniversary. The banner was to adorn the University’s Eastman School of Music‘s Miller building in downtown Rochester.
Strategy
To accommodate the building’s curved wall and historic stone cladding, IDS developed an inventive tension wire with stretched frame system to assure the banner could be displayed at its full impact. Accommodations for wind-load and UV stability were also part of the design and material choice considerations.
Approach
Overcoming engineering challenges presented by the building curvature and stone cladding, IDS developed a custom exterior banner system for displaying the 132 foot wide by 12 foot high vinyl banner, printed on our in-house wide-format digital printer.
